SATIN DIVA romps home!
Two Divas of the Turf Combine for a Silky Smooth Victory
It was a case of two Divas meeting their destiny at Moe on Friday, as Satin Diva, the talented filly trained by Cairon Maher lived up to her short quote, breaking her maiden in silky smooth style. Sporting the Slade Bloodstock pink Ladies’ silks, Satin Diva easily atoned for her narrow defeat on debut.
Ridden confidently by Jamie Melham, who travelled to Moe for just one ride on a Friday, Satin Diva jumped as the $1.15 favourite and never gave her owners and backers a moment of worry. After settling on speed, she cruised up at the turn before sprinting clear with class in the straight, scoring with her ears pricked and fuel left in the tank.
The victory was made all the sweeter for Slade Bloodstock, with Satin Diva proudly carrying the Slade Ladies pink silks to victory for the very first time. These vibrant colours, launched to honour the growing number of women in racing ownership, had been knocking on the door — but today, they made a deserved and memorable breakthrough. Amongst the happy bunch of female owners, is first time owner Angela Carbone – wife of senior lawyer and long time supporter of Racing.com, Tony Carbone.
There’s plenty to like about the future of this daughter of Better Than Ready, who looks to have city class potential written all over her.
It would appear Slade Bloodstock have yet another lovely horse on their hands, joining the likes of Here to Shock, Marble Arch, Impending War, Roll On High, So Risque and Epic Proportions (full brother to Satin Diva).
